In the North, you can have some winter months where the snow that falls is a really large amount. In the South, you will have a lot of rain or frozen water and ice, with most of the southern states getting a lot. In both areas, sometimes the water rates are high, and sometimes they might be low. I have seen in the north when they got a big snowfall, but it was called a dry snow because there was no moisture. The snow would fall and land on your hand and just sit there instead of melting away.

Did you know that out of ten of the worst tornadoes that we have had in this country that six of them have been rated an F-5, three of them being an F-4, and one being what is claimed as an unknown? Most of our tornadoes are put on a scale from one to five with number one being the least likely to do any real damage to a five, which is the worst and causes the most damage. Our scientists have what they call the Fujita Scale in which to scale the storm.

Volcanoes are very dangerous because when they erupt there is a river of red and orange hot lave running down the volcanoes. It make islands and all you see is a wasteland of black sand, which after time it changes into a beautiful island of tropical trees, plants everywhere, and the sand will change too. But there is one island that has black sand and the sand feels so good and it is soft when you step on it, it is also beautiful to see. They form from deep inside the earth but for it to form it has to heat up to about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit and melts everything into what is called magma. It pushes it up to the surface and it forms a volcano.

When you go into a cave, it might have water coming out of its walls, and it can be very dark in there. You can see some amazing things in there that will amaze you. You can end up in a different place, like further in the woods that you have not been before or in the part of the woods that you have been and are familiar with. Sometimes cave may not have another way out of them. They might only have one entrance, which is also the exit. You need to watch your step because there can be holes that drip a long way down, or they can have no bottom, which is called a bottomless pit. Some may be under waterfalls or have a river or creek in it. Although it is beautiful to see, it is dangerous for you to be in or go in, so don’t go in without someone that knows about it and have them take you in it.

When road workers are trying to build a road or clear out buildings, trees, and move big areas of ground, they have to be very careful and cannot work when it is raining. When water gets on the ground, it makes it muddy because there will be water going everywhere that will make big water puddles. Road workers can get stuck in them. It also is not good to be out there because someone can get hit with lightning because of all the metal and the trees. You’ve heard of the saying that “water and oil don’t mix”, and it goes the same way with road workers and rain because they don’t mix either. Rain can cause floods and mudslides. It can make you sink, slip, or fall.

Here we are again in the first part of the winter snow season, and it hit like a lion that had landed in a big pool of water. This storm that hit dropped 13 inches of white water on upstate New York and caused a lot of damage to trees, as this snow was so heavy that it caused these trees to have their limbs break from all of the weight. They fell on the power lines causing more than 40,000 customers without electric.
